Grand Teton National Park lies just a few km south of Yellowstone, it is named after its tallest mountain; Grand Teton (4199 m).
A wildfire, which started in July in Grand Teton, burned off a huge area in the northern part of the park and was blocking the south entrance of Yellowstone for weeks until the very day of our departure from Yellowstone. So we luckily could enter the park and this very sad sight unfolded in front of our eyes.
We had only a couple of hours in the park, therefore, we only did a short hike at Jenny Lake to the Cascade Canyon (this area was not affected by the fire). The trail proved to be a good choice, because it offered stunning views of the mountains and Jenny Lake; a scenery Grand Teton is famous for.
And then we met a chipmunk, who was very busy with working on his nut.
Grand Teton was a nice stop on our way to Utah, but the park in itself is not a "must-see-when-you-are-in-the-US" type of destination.
