What to pack on a 9 months long trip was not an easy decision. We wanted to pack all the essentials without overdue it and end up carrying too much weight. Therefore, we prepared a packing list and maximized our weight in 25 kg per person.

On the picture you can see the things I have packed for this trip:

- a big backpack and a small backpack

- a sleeping bag with a sleeping bag liner

- a travel towel

- clothes in packing cubes which helps to keep everything organized

- a camera, an ipad and a telephone (the computer is in Kasper’s bag)

- toiletries in an Orsay toiletry bag which can be hanged up

- a "smart box" with useful stuff such as head lamp, travel converter, Swiss army knife, rope to hang laundy up, extra battery charger, Lifestraw water filter.

- medical kit including malaria medicine, bandages, antibiotics and a small pair of scissors

- my epilator, because nobody likes hairy legs :)

- water bottle

- hand sanitizer

- snorkeling gear and a wet suit

- travel pillow

- travel documents: passport and vaccination certificate

- 2 travel books - Lonely Planet: South American on a shoestring and Lonely Planet: China

- a Spanish-Danish pocket dictionary

After everything was packed my big backpack weighed 15 kg and the small backpack was 10 kg. My goal is to keep the weight at max 25 kg, so I will only buy things on the way, if they are absolutely necessary and some stuff, especially clothes, will be thrown away, when they are worn-down.

There are only 2 things we are missing right now: a Steripen water purifier and a Scrubba Wash Bag (a portable "washing machine"). We plan to buy them in the US, because they are much cheaper there.
